Rabat American School
Rabat American School is an independent, coeducational school which offers an American educational program from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The School was founded in 1962. The academic year is three trimesters extending from the middle of August to the middle of June.

Organization: The School is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors elected for 2-year terms by the Rabat American School Association, the sponsors of the school. Membership is automatically conferred on the parents or guardians of children enrolled in the School.

Curriculum: The curriculum is highly academic and similar to that of U.S. private schools. Instruction is in English and the International Baccalaureate program is offered for students in grades 10-12. French and Arabic are taught as foreign languages. Desktop publishing, economics, computer science, physical education, yearbook/literary magazine, Moroccan studies, drama, music, art, and student services are included in the curriculum as electives. The School is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Faculty: In the 2005-2006 school year, there are 48 full-time and 8 part-time faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year, enrollment was 377 (PK-grade 5: 163; grades 6-8: 90; and grades 9-12: 124).

Facilities: The School is housed on a campus of 5.6 acres with facilities that include 2 libraries; a building containing rooms for art, music, and foreign language; a computer science center with 3 computer laboratories; an auditorium; a lower elementary classroom area; an upper elementary classroom area; and a secondary building area including a nurse’s office. Facilities also include an administrative building, a sports field, a swimming pool, a gymnastics room, locker rooms, changing rooms, a gymnasium, and a cafeteria.

Finances: In the 2005-2006 school year, about 98% of the School's income derives from regular day school tuition and registration fees. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PK (half-day): $3,720; PK (full-day): $6,975; Kdg. (full day) $10,000; grades l-5: $12,240; grades 6-8: $14,235; and grades 9-12: $14,340. There is a one-time registration fee of $5,000 payable on enrollment, beginning with kindergarten. There is a bus fee for round-trip $770 and one-way $660, and an application fee of $550, deductible from tuition fees. These fees are payable in U.S. dollars or in Moroccan Dirhams for Moroccan citizens only. ($1.00= 9.01 DH.) (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
